Lock & Co Collaboration: Escorial Hats
Lock & Co. Hatters Launches New Collection with Joshua Ellis & Escorial Wool for Autumn Winter 2018 For Autumn Winter 2018, Lock & Co. has teamed up with renowned cashmere manufacturer Joshua Ellis & Escorial Wool to produce a capsule collection of exquisite wool hats for men. “Very few brands these days epitomise fine, longstanding and genuine British heritage, so the collaboration between Lock & Co. Hatters and Joshua Ellis is a perfect match. The hats that we have chosen are some of our most sought-after models, and these fashionable, timeless styles in particular show the quality of the fabric, so our customers can appreciate the look and feel of the weave,” - Ben Dalrymple Managing Director of Lock & Co. Hatters. All three brands are respected as the archetype in their own fields. Founded in 1676, Lock & Co. is the world’s oldest and most respected hat shop. Known for their centuries-honed craftsmanship and pioneering designs, their hats have graced the heads of some of the greatest figures in history and continue to do so today. Using their extensive archives to create a four-piece strong capsule collection, Lock & Co. has teamed up with like-minded brands, Joshua Ellis x Escorial Wool. Renowned the world over for producing the finest handcrafted cashmere and woollen cloth, Joshua Ellis fabrics and accessories are highly sought after by luxury fashion houses and are exported from the Yorkshire mill to over 23 different countries. As part of this special collaboration, Joshua Ellis has woven an exclusive Escorial Wool. Escorial Wool is a rare and luxurious wool from a small sheep originating from the 15th century Spanish Royal flocks. Today the only direct descendants of the original royal flocks are found in small numbers in Australia and New Zealand, grazing in their natural environment. The Escorial difference is in the heart of the fibre, performing as a naturally coiled spring. This flexible characteristic creates a fabric of fluidity with extraordinary resilience, performance and a distinctively soft handle. “Between Joshua Ellis and Lock & Co. we have a joint 593-year history of manufacturing excellence and as a company that proudly makes everything in England, we are delighted to be working with one of the iconic English heritage brands in Lock & Co.,” says Oliver Platts, Managing Director of Joshua Ellis. “The collaboration brings both brand manufacturing expertise alongside the unique luxurious properties of Escorial wool which make for a beautiful, hand crafted product.” Made up of three styles, the collection has something for everyone. The Escorial baseball cap, is a sporty alternative to a winter beanie or flat cap. Woven from Escorial Wool, this style is still relatively new to Lock & Co.’s repertoire but is bound to be a best-seller this season. Popular style, the Tremelo Cap, has been updated with Escorial Wool, creating a sumptuously soft cap that is perfect for Autumn Winter. The eight-piece construction gives the famous bakerboy/newsboy shape. Finally, stylish cap the Escorial Grosvenor flat cap, offers a traditional silhouette with a modern finish. The edit will be sold exclusively at lockhatters.co.uk/collaborations as well as on the new Joshua Ellis website which launches in September, www.joshuaellis.com. Prices range from £125 - £145.
