Inspiration
With over 250 years of experience, Joshua Ellis has been making the world’s finest cashmere and wool fabrics and accessories in Yorkshire, England since 1767. Sustainability and our environmental impact is at the heart of everything we do. We are a member of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance and we share their vision that all cashmere is produced in an environmentally friendly way that safeguards the livelihoods of herding communities and protects the important, fragile environment in which they live.
Our Autumn Winter 2020 cashmere accessory collection has its heart and soul in our extensive pattern archive which blends our distinguished heritage with contemporary trends such as street style and bright colouration. With over 30,000 fabrics stretching back over 150 years it is a good place to start! Bold pops of colour sit in stark contrast to muted tones which give classic designs a modern twist. Traditional English styling is ever present through the collection with a heavy focus on Checks, Chalk Stripes, Windowpanes, and Buffalo Checks.
In our vintage scarf story, patterns from iconic Yorkshire fabrics are exploded and manipulated to give a fresh new look in this ever-present homespun story.
Our signature Modern Tartan offer has been expanded and a re-colouration of Traditional Tartans and Shepherd Checks in zesty pop colours has invigorated these iconic British design staples.
The collection is rooted in the Yorkshire countryside but is blended with a contemporary city look, making it perfect for the modern-day professional.
Heritage & Craftmanship
Joshua Ellis is immensely proud of its industrial heritage and roots, pouring heart and soul into every metre of fabric and scarf produced. The mill hums with the daily manufacture of the world’s finest fibres - cashmere, Escorial® wool, lambswool and camel hair - into the most exclusive fabrics and accessories; just as it has for over 250 years, skills being passed from generation to generation.
Situated in Yorkshire in the north of England, heartland of the wool industry and a region built on skill, technical prowess and soft water, Joshua Ellis was established in 1767 to produce the heavier woollen cloths necessary for warmth and durability. Since then, modern machinery has been married with age-old manufacturing techniques to produce the collection of luxurious products that we offer today. From our iconic cashmere ripple fabrics and scarves; to duffle coat ‘Elysian’ cloths, double-face coatings and extremely lightweight cashmere jacketings or featherweight scarves - it’s all in our current collection, much available for immediate delivery to fulfil the demands of our growing customer base.
Every unique Joshua Ellis scarf, stole, throw or fabric goes through 21 different processes before it is deemed perfect for sale. Each stage from design, to yarn spinning, weaving, finishing to final inspection is carefully executed in our own special way, in our own factory, to make sure that the design and quality is second to none.
