As part of its commitment to securing a strong and sustainable future for another 250 years, Joshua Ellis outlines its constantly evolving social responsibility and ethical statement.
Sustainability and Animal Welfare
Joshua Ellis fabrics and accessories are made using the finest luxury fibres sourced from verified sources in China, Mongolia, Australia and New Zealand. We are working in conjunction with our trusted partners to achieve sustainability and traceability throughout our supply chain, with our procurement team carrying out multiple visits to the regions of origin.
Cashmere is a natural fibre and is 100% bio-degradable. Our reputation is reliant on us delivering the finest quality cashmere to our discerning customers across the world. In order to preserve this, we test all our fibres and yarns in our own laboratory to ensure they meet our exacting standards.
Joshua Ellis is a member of the Sustainable Fibre Alliance. The SFA is a non-profit international organis
ation working with the extended cashmere supply chain, from herders to retailers. Their goal is to promote a global sustainability standard for cashmere production in order to preserve and restore grasslands, ensure animal welfare and secure livelihoods.
People
Our human resources strategy is to build a professional, experienced and engaged team, ready to meet future challenges within our industry. Employee engagement is critical to our future success and there are many ways for our team members to be involved in driving the business forward. The fact that we have a number of employees with over 40 years service is a testament to this, and a key measure of our success.
The biggest threat to our industry is the loss of the artisanal skills that we rely on and as such over 10% of our workforce is now enrolled on apprenticeship schemes.
Joshua Ellis complies and recognises the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and we are committed to practicing and enforcing these policies within our supply chain.
Environment
We strive to promote an environmentally friendly culture within Joshua Ellis. We work in accordance with current legistation to protect the environment from harmful chemicals and dyes by certifying no hazardous chemicals are used on our products or released in the environment.
We do not use AZO dyes and comply with all necessary REACH declaration.
Quality Craftsmanship
We pride ourselves on our craftsmanship and the quality of every single scarf, throw or metre of fabric leaving our doors.
Joshua Elis is ISO 9001 “quality management standards” accredited. We are committed to monitoring, improving and implementing the uppermost quality standards within our products and our business practices.
